Dr. Michael Looper, age 93, loving and devoted husband of Micki for 67 years with whom he shared a life of adventure; beloved and proud father of Heidi (Ian) Stern, Jodi (Jim) Madden, Rabbi Scott Looper and Dr. Sarah Tanzer, and Kari (Shai) Shamir; adored Saba to Asaf (Adi), Amitai, Nadav, Jamie, David, Max, Eli, Litan (Shani), Daniel and Sarit; great-grandfather to Hazel and Noam; younger brother to the late Jonas and late Raymond Lipsey, and Donald Looper. Much loved uncle. Decorated WWII Veteran; Chicago City Champion gymnast ('42); Maccabia gold and silver medal swimmer; founding member of Congregation Rodef Shalom in Marin County, CA; cultivator of the Jerusalem Botanical Gardens; world traveler; easy, warm friend to many; and a true exemplar of love and compassion. He was a fan of dessert until his dying day. Service Wednesday, 10 a.m. at The Chapel, 8851 Skokie Blvd., Skokie (at Niles Center Rd.). Interment Shalom Memorial Park.
