The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Dorinne Palmer can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Dorinne seem to arrive at a stage in life by the time I met her that I can only describe as awakened. She may have been like this all her life but I can only comment for sure on what I felt when I met this incredible woman. We never saw Dori fret about the petty things for which most of us waste our precious time and energy. She seem to say with every choice to have a Mrs Fields cookie or an aunt Annie’s pretzel a for lunch “this is the right thing to do now and I am going to enjoy what I’m doing or make the best of where I am right now and not mess it up with ruminating mishagas“. Spending time with her made us all better at doing this too. It is impossible to be with such a person and not have a little of it rub off. I think that is one of the reasons we looked forward to seeing her so much. Dori also seemed to know that true happiness comes from focusing on those around you rather than on yourself. With every action she seem to embody this philosophy. When she asked you how you were and what was going on your life that’s exactly what she wanted to know. She wasn’t comparing your answer to her life or thinking what can I get out of the situation; she was there for you and thinking about you ....each of us could feel this. Dori was with a doubt the most grounded, loving, and centered woman I have had the privilege to call Family. I don’t know the right words to provide comfort and have only hugs, love, and a moment of insight below to share with all who so dearly love her right now Via text Alan shared that “this whole process seems surreal.” I can’t even imagine what he is going through but surreal does seem like it would cover it. Something unbelievable, surreal. Something that just can’t be what it seems to be....And the truth is ....it’s not. Dori as we know and love her has not ceased to be. Dori is and always was the totality of everything we know about her and lived with her ..... all of our times with her, all of our thoughts about her, all of the lives that she touched. It is time its self that is surreal ...not what is happening at this very minute. Our times with Dori before today continue on; they are part of us, they are part of life, and they are not gone. They are just as real as anything that happened one minute ago or will happen in the next minute because all we really have is the minute that we are in now. If someone we love is alive in our mind this minute they are here with us in the present. Dori lives in hundreds of minds in today at this very minute in Buffalo Grove and hundreds more across the country. She is present here in us as the Dori each of us carries with us in our minds eye. She is the wife, mother, daughter, sister, cousin, aunt, niece, friend, and grammi we have known and loved forever.
