I am so sad to receive this news. Austin Jaffe was a great mentor and support me since the beginning with nice advice and positive comments. Many years meeting him in conferences and enjoying his great humanity and sympathy. We'll miss him.

My deepest condolences to the Jaffe Family. I am one of many who turned themselves into firm academics after reading Austin's papers. I had the privilege to lunch with Austin in the then world's tallest hotel in Hong Kong. It happened that the restaurant is named after an opera. Austin told me how much he loved operas, and shared with me that his all-time favourite is Figaro, which is truly a beautiful piece of work. Like what Mozart has done, Austin's work will influence generations of property scholars in the years to come. Tribute to you, a true master, Austin! With sorrows, from Lennon H.T. Choy of Ronald Coase Centre for Property Rights Research, The University of Hong Kong.

Our deepest condolences go to Lyn, Roxanne, Alex, and family from Austin’s longtime colleagues at the Department of Real Estate and Construction and Ronald Coase Centre for Property Rights Research at the University of Hong Kong (HKU). Austin had a long relationship with HKU dating back to the mid-1990s. He had visited HKU many times since then and gave many stimulating lectures and seminars at our department. Recently he served as an external examiner for our MSc (Real Estate) program. His advice shaped the development of the program, which continues to attract a growing number of applicants every year. It was a joyful experience working with Austin and he will be sadly missed by many current and former colleagues, students and alumni of our department.

Our deepest condolences to Lyn, Roxane, Alex and the wider family from colleagues at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. Austin, on sabbatical in 1988, brought his family to Stockholm for almost a year. His presence at the Department of Real Estate Economics had a profound effect on research and the doctoral program. He convinced me to attend my very first Ares conference in Washington. He was a great supporter and speaking partner when KTH hosted two Eres conferences 1996 and 2009. As a frequent guest to my family he demonstrated good skills in table hockey and world class knowledge about Marx brother films. Austin was a great real estate professor.
