Obituary for Charlotte Krasny Sherman

Charlotte Krasny Sherman, age 96. Cherished mother of Leesa (Rich) Berman and Neal Sherman, adored Gramcracker to Melissa (Dave) Rose, Stephanie Berman, Ryan Sherman, and Nicholas Sherman, proud GG of Dylan and Nathan Rose, devoted daughter of the late Rose and Nathan Krasny, beloved sister to the late Florence (Morris) Deutch, Irving (Betty), and Evelyn, and the sweet lady with the big red hair to many. Charlotte was an incredibly loved woman. She was easy to spot with her red hair and was always dressed head-to-toe with clip-on earrings, a chunky necklace, and a matching outfit. People around town knew who she was; she would strike up a conversation with anyone, and gushed about her family the most. Growing up, Charlotte was an excellent runner and had a great arm in softball, which she was very proud of. She worked at LTD for over 20 years where she was greatly admired and made numerous long-lasting friendships. Charlotte was known for having a house full of junk food, starting her day with cookies, having an opinion on every celebrity, and constantly making funny faces into the camera. She was a great cook; some of her specialties included chicken soup, her famous ice cream jello mold and sweet potato casserole with marshmallows. When you visited her, she insisted on giving you something to eat, even if you weren't hungry. She loved going to the movies and went frequently with all her grandkids. You could often catch her dancing to music, even if only in her chair, or humming a tune. Charlotte was always talking and spent many hours on the phone. Her long voicemails often ended with "this is Grandma signing off!". Her favorite thing to do was spoil her grandkids, and boy did she ever! Her family was her greatest joy and achievement and she always put them first. She had a big heart and lived her whole life caring about others. If you ever knew her, you remembered her. Charlotte will be missed greatly by her family and all who were lucky enough to have her in their life. Services have been held. Donations may be made in memory of Charlotte to the Alzheimer's Association, www.alz.org, 225 N. Michigan Ave, Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
