It is with great sadness, we announce the death of Elaine Sharon Brown Ciotola of Austin, TX after a courageous 2 year battle with ovarian cancer. Elaine was born in Chicago on January 14, 1942 to parents, Katie & Joe Brown. Elaine also called Houston, Milwaukee and Albuquerque home for a period of time. Elaine enjoyed a full life filled with lots of family & friends. She leaves behind her husband, Morris Kaplan, her daughter, Karen Willis (James), and Julie Kominsky, step-daughters, Sharon Cohan (Eric) and Jen Hill (Ryan). She also leaves behind her greatest joys, her grandchildren, Taylor & Ryan Willis, Alex & Katie Cohan, Emily Wolfman and Dylan Hill. She is survived by her sister, Lenore Levin and preceded in death by her sister, Phyllis Sandler.

Elaine loved life and always lived it to its fullest. She loved to play bridge, mahjong and crossword puzzles. She loved the theatre, cooking, reading and traveling. In recent years, she enjoyed planning events for many of the seniors in the Austin and Cedar Park communities. Above all, she loved helping friends and strangers, and volunteered often.

Elaine had many careers that she loved from teaching to real estate to interior design. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Chicago, got her Bachelor of Arts from Northeastern Illinois University and her Associate of Arts degree in Interior Design at Bryant & Stratton Business College in Milwaukee.
