Obituary for Fred Morton Caplan

Fred Morton Caplan, 91, died peacefully in his sleep on August 6, 2022.  Fred was the loving son of the late Rose and late Paul Caplan, and beloved husband of the late Roberta (Kornfeld) Caplan for over 50 years.  He is survived by his children Susie (Ricky) Franklin, Mickey (Deni) Caplan, and Gary (Pam Gady) Caplan; his grandchildren Andy (Sara) Franklin, Amy (Marty) Thompson, Jimmy (fiancée Alexis Buchel), Jeremy Caplan, Greg (Nicole Garelick) Caplan, Brett (Amy) Caplan, Maddy Caplan, and Jack Caplan; his 4 great-grandchildren Reed, Casey, Leon, and Addison; and his brother Burt (Adrienne) Caplan. Fred was a very kind and gentle man, who would do anything for family, including giving away the shirt off his back.  He loved to read, watch the Cubs, and watch MSNBC.  He graduated from the University of Illinois and Northwestern Law School, and practiced law with his father-in-law and as a solo practitioner until he was 85 years old.  Fred remained active studying talmud, walking with friends, and listening to audio books even after losing his eyesight at 88. Private funeral services will be held Monday, August 8th at 10:00 am CT. The service will be live-streamed on Fred’s page at www.goldmanfuneralgroup.com.
