Obituary for Gail Kalish
Gail Kalish, nee Gistenson, age 79, of Lincolnshire, IL and Scottsdale, AZ.; beloved wife and best friend for nearly 62 years of Bernard (Buddy) Kalish; loving mother of Susan (Sheldon) Karlinsky; Howard (Nancy) Kalish and Ronald Kalish; proud grandmother of Aaron (Randi) Karlinsky, Marc Karlinsky (fiancee Carol Guzman), Matthew, Lucas, Justin, Benjamin and Julia Kalish; and adored great-grandmother of Galit Karlinsky. Dear sister-in-law to the late Mort (the late Rose) Kalish, Shaindel (the late Mike) Greenspan and Dodo (Morrie) Bishaf. She was preceded in death by her parents, Abe and Helen Gistenson, and her sister, Roberta Field. Devoted aunt and friend to many.
Gail was a proud graduate of Von Steuben High School. Buddy and Gail raised their family in Skokie and Riverwoods, Ill., where Gail served as the village clerk. She was President of the Women’s Golf League at Ravinia Green Country Club for two years.
Gail spent many years as the bookkeeper for Travel Duet, which allowed her to explore the world with many dear friends. She loved world travel, big parties, loud family dinners and canasta. She was an avid writer of poems and parodies. Gail enjoyed AOL, reading books and strong coffee. She was smart, resourceful and the true matriarch of her family.
The graveside service and shiva is private. The service will be livestreamed Friday, 1 p.m. at www.goldmanfuneralgroup.com.
