Obituary for Janet L. "Jan" Levinsky

Janet L. “Jan” Levinsky, nee Davies, age 77, of Northbrook, former teacher’s aide with District 28 in Northbrook and a former sales associate at the Book Stall in Winnetka; beloved wife for 57 years of Henry Levinsky; loving mother of Rabbi David (Kate Phillippo) Levinsky and Beth (Oloye Makinde) Levinsky; adored Bubbe of Noam Levinsky; devoted daughter of the late Gilbert and the late Geraldine Davies; dear sister of Lynn Johnson; cherished sister-in-law of Rena Nagle and Marvin (Jane) Levinsky; treasured aunt and friend to many. Jan was bright and intelligent, she enjoyed literature and the fine arts. She will also be remembered for her phenomenal sense of humor. Jan was an ardent supporter and political campaigner for Congressman Abner Mikva. She was civically minded, especially focusing on human rights causes and was a long-time member of the Jacques Cousteau Society. The graveside service will be private.
