Joel W. Weinstein, 88, of Northbrook and Boca Raton, FL, most beloved and dearest husband for 67 years of Suzanne "Sue", nee Levine; Loving father of Ronald (Linda), Mark (Marcie), and Diane (Scott) Kohl; adored grandpa of Lindsay (Jonathan) Treshansky, Jonathan (Amy) Kohl, Joshua Weinstein, Jenna (Reed) Adler, Sarah (David) Lakin, Jordan (Joshua) Bauer, Amanda (Matthew) Chandler, Samuel Weinstein, and Jessica (Joshua) Mark; proud great-grandfather of Teddy, Cole, Hallie, Liv, Callie, Juliet, Addie, and Ruby; Devoted son of the late Eva and the late Myron Weinstein; cherished brother of the late Harvey Weinstein, and dear brother-in-law of Ron and the late Sherry Grabois.

Joel was well known in the Jewish community, having been CEO and Past President of Weinstein Brothers Funeral Homes in Illinois and Levitt-Weinstein Memorial Chapels in Florida. Joel was the past president of Congregation Beth Shalom of Northbrook. He spent countless hours establishing the Congregation, where he remained actively involved for over 50 years. He was involved in many local organizations in the Chicago and Florida area: among them, Magen David Adom, in which he generously donated several ambulances to the State of Israel, City of Hope, B'nai Brith, Bickur Cholem, Israel Bonds, and Jewish United Fund (JUF). Joel served honorably in the United States Army.

Joel's greatest love was his family and relished in their accomplishments. Joel had several hobbies including stamp and coin collecting, but known most of all for his lucky elephant collection lining the shelves of his homes. Joel was an avid traveler and especially enjoyed taking his grandchildren on trips to Disney, Alaska, and the Bahamas.
