Joyce Myra Fleischman (nee Kennard), age 90, beloved and devoted wife for 62 years of the late Sylvan Fleischman; loving mother of Cheri (Stephen) Uretsky and Susan Fleischman; adored Grammy of Matthew (Sandra) and Adam Uretsky; cherished GiGi of Josephine Uretsky; devoted daughter of the late Joseph and Beverly Kennard; fond sister of Dee (late Richard) Bass; treasured aunt, cousin, friend and neighbor to many. Joyce grew up in Oak Park and Chicago and graduated from Roosevelt University. She met her late husband at a synagogue dance, and he charmed her with his quick wit. They married a year later and raised two loving daughters. Joyce was an enthusiastic and creative stay-at-home mom, spending hours baking Play-Doh pies and hand-sewing troll clothes adorned with sequins. In later years she enjoyed serving on her Condo Association Board and part-time market research work. Joyce's hobbies included baking delectable cookies and brownies, going to art fairs and the Botanic Garden, and spoiling her grandchildren. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a playful imagination, making her an especially fun Grammy. She also was active in her late husband's women's footwear business. He valued her fashion sense and business acumen, and they traveled together, befriending clients throughout the Midwest. The graveside service will be private.
