Obituary for Madeline Kochman

Madeline Kochman, nee Black, age 100, was born and raised in Chicago. She raised her family in Oak Park and was active in the Oak Park business community as a partner with her beloved husband, Henry in their well-known lighting business, Columbia Artcraft. Madeline was the loving wife for 58 years of the late Henry Kochman; proud mother of James (Terrie) Kochman, Bruce (Barb) Kochman, and Joanne Glover; grandmother of David, Danielle, Ben, Sara, Rachel, and Randy; great grandmother of Jonah, Luca, Brooklyn, Lincoln, Eleanor, and Abigail; devoted daughter of the late Daniel and the late Mary Black; dear sister of the late Arnold (late Frances) Black.

For 65 years, Madeline was an active member of Oak Park Temple, committing further to her Judaic heritage by becoming Bat Mitzvah at the age of 85. She also volunteered for many organizations in the Oak Park and Forest Park communities, which included Meals on Wheels, PADs, and Vital Bridges. Madeline loved baking, knitting, gardening, and attending concerts downtown. Her active lifestyle well into her 90’s serves as an inspiration to many.
