Marvin S Rosenberg, M.D., age 89, beloved father to Ellen Rosenberg, Paula Rosenberg and Margot Rosenberg (Kara Putnam); loving grandfather to Sydney Frey; cherished brother to Jeanette Mandel; stepfather and grandfather to the extended Horwich family; treasured uncle and friend to many. He was preceded in death by his late wife, Sandra Bruch Rosenberg, and second wife Diann Horwich Rosenberg;
Marvin was born and raised in Chicago, the son of Jewish immigrants, a tailor and seamstress. Steadfast in pursuit of his childhood dream to become a doctor, he achieved his goal through determination, hard work and intelligence. A well-respected doctor at Rush-Presbyterian St. Luke’s Hospital for 40 years, Marvin was a meticulous physician and devoted patient advocate, qualities which also made him a challenging colleague and mentor. He was an avid tennis player until two cardiac arrests kept him on the sidelines. After retirement in 2001, he shifted his focus from career to family. He also had more time to pursue his lifelong interests in the fine arts, including playing piano, sculpting, traveling, reading and attending a wide range of sporting and cultural events. He never missed a meal, and never allowed a family celebration to occur without his poetic accompaniment.
Graveside service Wednesday, 1:30 p.m. CT at Westlawn Cemetery, Westlake Section, 7801 W Montrose Ave, Norridge, IL. The service will be livestreamed on Marvin’s page at www.goldmanfuneralgroup.com.
