Obituary for Melissa "Mel" Blitstein

Melissa “Mel” Blitstein, age 39, grew up in Buffalo Grove, from the age of 14 and for the next 20 years, Melissa was associated with the Buffalo Grove Park District. She coached and played for numerous softball teams and leagues, including the Maccabi Games. She was a leader both on and off the field. Professionally, Melissa had an amazing artistic vision for architecture and interior design. Her work ethic was beyond reproach. She was the beloved daughter of Jerrold and Gayle (nee Gillman) Blitstein; loving sister of Jason Blitstein and Erica (Bradley) Zych; devoted granddaughter of Bernice and the late Samuel Blitstein and the late Rosalyn “Roz” and the late Harold Gillman; adored Dog Mom of Jett Black; treasured niece and cousin; her amazing loyal friends were considered extended family members. Melissa was loved by all. Service Thursday, 10:00 a.m. CST at The Chapel, 195 N. Buffalo Grove Rd., Buffalo Grove (1 block N. of Lake Cook Rd.).
