Obituary for Samuel E. Remenik

Samuel Remenik, born August 25, 1919 and died peacefully on March 9, 2021, after an amazing 101 years of life; Sam served honorably in the U.S. Army during WWII, and came home to become a wholesale diamond broker in Chicago; beloved husband for 66 years of the late Rhea, nee Dickman; loving father of Phyllis (Paul) Roy and Ellen (Paul) Barnett; adored Grandpa Sam of Benjamin (Laura) Barnett, Michael (Susie) Barnett, and Ricky (Shannon) Barnett; proud GG Sam of Oliver, Elliot, Samantha, Ari, Ethan, Rhys, CeCe, and Teddy; devoted son of the late Eli and late Celia Remenik; cherished brother of the late Marion (late Jack) Keller and the late Ruth (late Eddie) Levy. Sam was a special man who loved his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren with all his heart. He was the cherished GG to his whole family, and he made them all the center of his world. He made an impression on everyone he met, because of his kind and warm personality. He enjoyed reading and learning throughout his life, especially history, nature, and politics. Sam was a lover of music, there was always classical music playing in his home. He always stayed up to date with current events, with a special interest for Israeli news. After retiring, Sam played golf and attended all his grandsons sporting events. The graveside service will be private.
