Obituary for Susan Fisher Bisgeier

Susan Fisher Bisgeier, 79, died peacefully on September 14, 2022. Susan was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s over 10 years ago.

Born in Hyde Park to Irene and Leroy Fisher, Susan spent most of her life in her beloved Glencoe. After attending New Trier High School, she graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 1965 where she met her future husband of 56 years, Stephen J. Bisgeier.

Susan devoted her life to her family. She derived such joy as a mother and grandmother and had an exceptional way of making each of her children and grandchildren feel uniquely special. She exuded positivity with her luminous presence, kind heart, wonderful laugh, and generosity of spirit. She spread happiness to others with her delicious baked goods – particularly her famous brownies. She lived her life fully, with incredible style and grace. She spent most of her days with a smile on her face, even in the later stages of her disease. In addition to her love of family and friends, Susan loved her home (especially her vintage oven), her garden, a great book, an early morning walk, and all things Glencoe. In the late 1990s, Susan served as the Executive Director of the Glencoe Chamber of Commerce, where she connected with local merchants and knew nearly everyone in town by name.

Susan is survived by her husband Steve, daughters Karen (David) Zucker and Jane (Don) Koster, son Dan (Nicole), and seven grandchildren, Jack and Nate Zucker, Ben and Max Koster, and Noah, Charlie, and Emily Bisgeier. She is also survived by her sister Margaret Soffin and her brother Daniel (Mary Michell) Fisher. She will be greatly missed by her extended family and many friends.
